What Y cable? What port, from where to where?

 

Is to give access to POTS and DSL at the same time.

This allows you to use the inbuilt fax, answering machine, and phone exchange , you can also then route IP phone calls back out to the POTS line

etc.

Back 3 years ago Snap did not supply this because the POTS connection was not telepermiited

I have hopes 2degrees will do this.

I just used a RJ45 cable and punched down to the other pair in the jack that I plugged it into, and it worked fine except that the dect or analog phones on the fritz to the analog line (actually an ATA) was really echoey and quiet, even with the ATA set to max volume. Caller ID was wonkey as well.

We (and Snap before us) don't supply the y cables with the fritzbox as these are not entirely suited to NZ conditions (due to differences in how phone us transmitted between NZ and Europe), these would confuse the customer and require the use of a filter and/or retermination to be suitable for use her.

We can certainly supply one for you if you like, please PM us your account number and we can get one out, however do note our helpdesk will be unable to support setting this up or the POTS related telephony features in the modem.
