As above. A few weeks ago we made the move from Slingshot to Orcon. Not a huge difference in service (supposedly), however, we're now on some kind of VDSL line (not quite VDSL speeds, but better than ADSL) -- 18mb down / 1mb up. It's hard to explain but there was an issue with the line.
Anyways. I play a lot of online games (WoW, Heroes of the Storm, etc...), and occasionally I'll play with my friends who live in the UK (where I used to live). The best server for all of us to play on is US West. I usually get between 150-160ms to US West. However, a week or so after moving to Orcon, I was disconnected mid-game (playing on US West in HoTS). When I reconnected my ping had increased by about 80ms. Since then, my ping has remained significantly higher to the United States. I now get 250ms to US West, and 265 to Central and Eastern America. That seems a bit... excessive? This makes playing most games on American hosted servers too frustrating now. Considering the physical distance between the West, Central and Eastern America, I'm getting very similar ping to all of them. US West is especially high.
When I Speedtest LA, I get 170ms (before DLM / interleaving I got 145ms). The DLM on my line right now has increased my latency by about 15-25ms. Although, a little after we moved over my latency was 20ms lower than what it is right now, last week it increased for whatever reason, regardless of it being 100% stable. Sigh. In World of Warcraft right now, when I play on Western United State servers, I get 240-250ms, Eastern is 250-255ms. This is completely unsatisfactory. A few months ago, I was getting 145ms to Western servers, now the best I can get is 240ms? And yet when I Speedtest or use a VPN, I can get 170ms (would be lower but DLM has increased my latency like I mentioned before).
Has anyone else experienced a similar issue, and know anything I can do to get it resolved. Its really impacted what games me and my friends can play, and basically makes it impossible to do so now. Why is the pathing so terrible...
Thanks in advance,
Chris.
