Hi all

Has anyone used this service from 2Talk? We have been having a lot of issues with faxing via WxC, and therefore are looking to solve the issue, hopefully without having to resort back to having a PSTN line!

I have created and credited a 2Talk account, I send my email through to <number>@fax.2talk.co.nz, with a PDF attachment, and about 30 minutes later I get the following reply:

Your fax message was NOT sent due to an error.:

    Attachment Name : Roster.pdf
  From Phone Number : +6428xxxxxx
    To Phone Number : 06xxxxxxx
Reason for failure : Destination fax number was busy or is not answering
     Retry Attempts : 1
      Date and Time :

You should check that the receiving fax machine is working correctly and resend your fax email.

The fax machine was no engaged, and I have now tried 2 different numbers....

Any ideas?

Have you tried +6461231234@fax.2talk.co.nz

Replace 1231234 with the number you were trying to send to.

Faxing problems are always the most fun to diagnose, as not only do you have VoIP but also old analogue fax machines thrown into the mix.

What issues were you having with WxC faxing?

Also, try a different attachment to the one you are trying to send, try cokemaster's suggestion, and also double-check the receiving fax isn't waiting too long to answer the line (sometimes the sending fax machine will timeout if the recipient takes too long)

I have no, but got the same result.

We have always had issues when sending faxes to certain numbers (some just work every time, others take several attempts, and some never work), however we wrongly assumed it was working alright for incoming faxes, until Sunday night, where we never received any faxes (were expecting 7 of them from different people, all local).  Upon talking to them they said it is pretty common to have to retry a few times when trying to send faxes through, which isn’t really an acceptable solution.

Totally agreed, in the installations we have completed we have moved to T.38, this overcame the typical fax issues.  Obviously this is a lot easier to resolve/complete in a private network environment.

Cheers

Interesting to hear the incoming/outgoing faxing issues you are having.  I know that faxing over IP (not using T.38) is very touchy, and is not forgiving at all if there is a small delay.

We use a WxC DDI for incoming/outgoing faxing over a high speed, low latency connection and it works really well.
