This was on the 2degrees status page yesterday.

Christchurch, DSL, 08/09, Unplanned Outages

Due to severe weather conditions many of our copper network customers around Christchurch may experiencing a complete loss of service.

Our technicians are aware and are working to resolve this issue currently.

While I'm not aware of any outages on my line my connection has dropped from 62 Mbps down to 19Mbps with no change 24 hours later.

Not impressed....

Water is a wonderful thing.

With lines toppled and water flooding areas you may as well put on "copperhead road" and repeat until the sun shines buddy.

It's not your RSP's fault. Its just the infrastructure they are using which is the same for all RSP's (when talking POTS Copper).

Are you sure your own copper connection hasnt been subjected to water either from the street to your house or perhaps at the box down the road.

If problems persist you can always log a fault, but you have service within agreed levels (unless your on a business agreement with different SLAs).

Hi LittleDude,

The known outage in CHCH late last week was related to a complete loss of service to a handful of nodes on the Chorus network.

If you are experiencing lower than normal sync rates, this will be unrelated to that particular event, however may still be related to the weather. Please give the helpdesk a call on 0800 022 022 opt 9 and they'll investigate and arrange a technician for you if required.

Thanks,

Ralph ^JOB

I must apologize...it was weather related not 2degrees fault. My wife informed me later that we had a power cut during the bad weather which must have messed up the modem. I didn't follow the first rule...reboot the modem yell
