Hi there, I am signed up to 2degrees Broadband's 12-month fixed term. It started on 12 Jan 2016.

Will be leaving the property in late December 2016. I understand new tenants will move in on 1 Jan 2017.

I'm trying to see what I can do to avoid the $249 early termination fee. I will be happy to pay up to 12 Jan 2017. But if I don't cancel the subscription before late December, will the new tenants be able to connect to their preferred provider?

If it is important, the connection that I have is Ultra Fast Fibre.

Moving the connection to another location is not an option (complicated story).

Thanks for your advice!

Have you contacted 2degrees to ask them?

It's fine.

There're 4 ports on your UFF fibre box. They work independently.

You can just leave your 2degrees connection on one of the ports. The new occupant can sign up to their preferred supplier on one of the other three ports. You can cancel your connection whenever it suits you, it won't block their connection.

Unless they want plans like a Gigabit connection which can only be ordered on the first port.

Don't forget you often have to give 30 days notice to end the connection.

I don't see why you're worrying about this. Pay your last bill when it's due (remember you pay in advance) and cancel at the same time so you're service is paid for up until the 12th Jan.

Hi guys,

Good news, heard back from 2degrees Broadband.

They said as long as I paid for my final bill cycle, there will be no termination charge.

So it's all good now, hurrah.

Hi all,

As our billing is in advance, as long as it is the final month and this is paid for, it's all good.

Worthy of note we don't have a 30 day notice period on our broadband connections, billing is halted at the end of the billing period that disconenction occurs in.

Thanks,
