Just wondering if anyone from 2Degrees has tried to top up a mobile via their own website. So, you can't use the mobile phone top from a mobile phone .... ? ( yeah, I know you can if you really really try, but damn ... really? )

Hi,

Yep, the above page was designed for desktop, but can be used and is accessible from mobiles. We think the 2degrees mobile app* is a better experience for an 'online top-up' on your phone and it's what most customers use if they don't want to call 201, login to Your 2degrees, go to a NZ Post shop, use the BNZ app, Auto-Top-up, Monthly Auto-Top-Up, Voucher via 201 or Me2U.

Here's more info on the ways to top-up with 2degrees - Topping up on 2degrees Prepay

Cheers

*Btw - the Mobile app update is in progress

The app takes you to the website payment page. And no it's not usable for your average user. Have you tried it? And no I'm not talking about a high end 'mobile' with a screen the size of a billboard.

But great to hear the app is being updated. But trends are moving away from apps again. Anywho was just a FYI. And a dig that a mobile phone company doesn't have a mobile friendly website.

A proper, mobile friendly responsive website is a much better option than app.

Not a 2 degrees specific thing but the whole obsession with dedicated apps is a terrible idea, personally I try and avoid using custom apps.

If you don't have your card registered with 2degrees do you need to do so online before you can use the app to top up? I suspect this is what's happening.

I don't mind the app for 2D or having one, but in general I prefer browser.

Websites - html & javascript etc - are supposed to be easily cross platform and should work the same on all browsers. Not always the case though, and I understand different api levels for an app might be easier to deal with than different versions of multiple browsers.

I've been thinking for awhile the experience of the internet on a smartphone /really/ isn't worth the monthly cost anymore.

You can enter your card details in the app.

When I was looking for more information around the Dunedin Fibre outage, I found that the Broadband Outage page did not work on mobile

I also echo the comments - I will never use an app when there is a perfectly good website that should be usable
