Just switching from Ihug to Orcon, it'll be 2 weeks on Tuesday. Which I'll admit is slowing starting to nudge my "no big deal" hat off my head.

THey should ideally give you a date when they expect your service go live.

We just moved our household slingshot connection back to Xtra (two Xtra connections in the household now) due to the poor performance, and were told 'Your service will be live by Saturday 5PM'.

yeah I assumed that. I'm just a little suprised at how long it has taken and how spookily quiet they have been in their communications with this (hopefully) new paying customer.

Apologies for the delay that you are experiencing, we realise that people are anxious to get on board and experience the Orcon difference.

Moving customers on to our new Orcon+ network (assuming that this is what you are doing) is taking longer than we sould like due to the sheer volume of orders that we have received. In addition moves from wholesale providers (e.g. in your case ihug) and Orcon are more complex than Telecom to Orcon moves. Once we have things bedded down (remembering this is a new process for all involved - Orcon, Chorus, and the 3rd party wholesaler) we would expect the whole process to take around 5-7 working days.

Even though the lead time is longer at the moment you should have recieved an email with a date for transfer - perhaps check your junk email/other email accounts?

Thanks Duncan. Alas no there's been no email to my gmail account (the one I used to register with), nor in any junk mail folders.

Oh well, tomorrow is another day. Smile

If it takes 5 weeks for someone already on Orcon Non LLU to change to the new Orcon Non LLU plan because of their provisioning department, id hate to be in your shoes buddy. :)

Telecom has to schedule their own contractors to do the work on the MDF for a change to LLU, at this stage probably done as bulk orders wherever possible. I guess that would involve a wait as well.

However you didnt mention joining an LLU plan, so changing between UBS providers should be just a matter of putting a preferred changeover date through to Telecom, then Telecom just update some network settings automatically on the day.

Time to find a new industry!

Correct, I'm not after the LLU, simply switching from Ihug to Orcon. I now have a little cake with a candle on it on my desk as today is the 2 week anniversary of applying Laughing

Update ; Duncan got onto this very quickly and the switch has been made painlessly and promptly.

I must say, the speed increase from Ihug FS/FS to Orcon FS/FS is very dramatic. Reminds me of the early days of DSL when pages loaded almost immediately.
