Just a heads up, if you've previously been on the $95.95 100mbit/unlimited plan you will also have a $2.50 price increase applied.  If you don't mind the contract, grab the free Apple TV in return for 24months of loyalty on the cheaper $95.00 plan.

Anyone from Orcon care to explain why I've been charged this?

No mention of a delivery fee here:

Orcon CSR thinks an Apple TV is a modem? Strange. But $95/mo for 100/20Mbit is pretty expensive...

More expensive compared to who?  Vodafone's pricing:

Point 6 says Fibre Modem rental included, but delivery fee of $9.95 applies. I would say you are getting a new modem :)

Nope, already have their current "modem" and it is unwanted anyway.

BigPipe and Voyager for example have 100/20 for $79/mo with no contracts, Skinny have it for less. Since you're using your own router and I'd imagine you're not using the bundled VoIP service I thought that one of the "other" providers may well suit you better if you're in one of their coverage areas. You're looking at $384 savings over 2 years which is more than enough to pay for an Apple TV if you're wanting one.

You can't possibly trust Truenet to be accurate given their method of testing. Anyway it is personal preference, I'd prefer to go by what others are saying over single digit differences with Truenet - they don't know how the probe is connected on the other end and we also don't know how many probes there are per ISP.

Called Orcon and after some arguing I'm getting the delivery fee credited.  They initially tried telling me it was a delivery fee for the router before checking if I was on a new connection or not, then tried telling me it's for the delivery of the Apple TV, then eventually came back and will be crediting the delivery charge.

If you're an existing Orcon customer getting the free Apple TV as I've done then I suggest checking your bill and getting a credit for the delivery fee

Latest bill shows $98.45 as my internet cost. What gives?

I couldn't really understand the explanation given but it was something like the price increase applied to my account previously has also been applied to my new plan ...

I'm told (after asking) that I'm not the only customer this has happened to. There are laws against this.
