Anyone else getting random timeouts on 2degrees this evening? Could be weather related. Could be their DNS server down, I'm getting DNS timeouts with sites I haven't visited very recently. @freitasm

I'm getting messages like this.

aws.amazon.com’s server DNS address could not be found.

DNS_PROBE_FINISHED_NXDOMAIN

I am having issues as well, with both Google DNS and the native 2degrees DNS. Kicked me out a tournament match in World of Warships just as we were about to win >>

DNS servers can be pinged fine...

ping -t ns1.snap.net.nz

Pinging ns1.snap.net.nz [202.37.101.1] with 32 bytes of data:

Trying a Tracert to any international site just gets me a whole pile of timed out requests past static.snap.net.nz at the moment. Something's not right.

Traffic just isn't going anywhere.

Tracing route to plex.tv [52.210.244.61]
over a maximum of 30 hops:

  1    <1 ms    <1 ms    <1 ms  192.168.1.1
  2     2 ms     2 ms     2 ms  111-69-1-254.core.snap.net.nz [111.69.1.254]
  3     *        *        *     Request timed out.

Most international sites are timing out and refusing to load outright. Domestic traffic appears to be unaffected. Using Google DNS, which can be pinged with no issues.

Update: appears to be working now.

DNS failing all over the place for me..... Very intermittent. 2d please update your network status page. It's obvious there's an issue.

Still not performing that great. Usable now, but international speed is very sub par. Speedtest to a New York server gives me 1.86mbps on my 2Degrees fibre, testing same server on Spark fibre giving me over 85mbps.

International streaming sites are noticeably slower as well.

EDIT: Similar poor results testing against a US West Coast server (when compared to Spark fibre). Speedtest to Sydney tests fine though.

Out of interest, is your router hammered with remote access attempts (if running a fritz)

Its like a common IP is bombarding us all. A lot. I had these issues and just logged in to notice every 2mins or so an attempt, much like another user reports.

Seems better this morning. 88Mbps down and 11Mbps up to a random USA speed test server.

Yes my 2degrees fibre in Tauranga was terrible last night.

Disconnected a couple of times. When it was up it was slow. Netflix looked like 360p. Eventually it wouldn't load, went to bed grumpy.

Hey all,

Unfortunately there was a major power issue in the US last night at our San Jose pop that affected our capacity to the US. This has since been resolved.

Thanks,
