I have been on Spark with my fibre connection and have changed to 2degrees. I got an email and SMS today advising that my 2degrees connection is now ready and I should plug in my 2degrees Fritz Box. However, according to https://www.whoismyisp.org/ I'm still with Spark, and my Spark connection is still active.

Am I missing something? I'm worried that if I cancel my Spark connection tomorrow I want have any internet.

I figured out my problem pretty much immediately after posting, but will leave this here for anyone having trouble in the future.

I plugged the Fritz Box into Port 2 of the ONT and that connected me to 2degrees.

You might be wondering why I didn't try that immediately - I had previously read that this is how it works, but when I phoned 2degrees after signing up (to give them my ONT serial to speed up the process) I asked specifically whether they would be enabling on Port 2, and the customer service rep told me no, they dont do it that way, your connection will be on Port 1 of the ONT.

UFF and Enable do it like this I have noticed... Some times annoying as the LSP doesn't always seem to get a notification so you need to call and make sure the old service is cancelled. Chorus do it as you would expect and just transfer the service on port 1 to the new provider.

FWIW 2Degrees specifically mention in their email that you must cancel your prior service manually, which I will do tomorrow.

is possible, don't see it often.

Have come across a few rare cases BB is assigned to another port.

Unless I'm misunderstanding, I think that's exactly what my situation is. Right now I have Spark on port 1 and 2Degrees on Port 2.

Depends on who the LFC is entirely.

For Chorus, it is usually a same port transition but your ISP can provision certain plans on secondary port.

For UFF it's usually different port connection, but your ISP can choose same port transition.

For Enable it's all different port connection.

Oh boy...

They have "Primary" and "Secondary" products. You can only have one primary product per ONT, I think you could have a few secondary ones.

Secondary removes anything good, anything Business (BS3a) or symmetric really. Just has the bare CFH plans and a couple extras.

It's easier to transition and have a cutover, there's a bit of admin work having a secondary product and someone relinquishing the primary - you have to then move to a primary product as an ONT cannot have a secondary without a primary.

If 2d have used the 2nd port then spark likely have no idea you are switching providers.

So they will keep billing you. You need to tell them to disconnect immediately. You'll already be paying for 30 days more than you need to.
