So, since the end of last year facebook videos have been unwatchable.  I get maybe a couple of seconds buffering at a time.  It's only FB videos afaict hence why I'm only complaining now ... youtube is mint.  I've seen the other speed issue threads but I don't have the same problems with other downloads.

I could be mistaken but with ipv6 turned on there *seems* to be an improvement with the initial caching of the video but this quickly runs out as the video plays.

Yes, I have been having the same problems. Switch and watch the same video on YouTube and no problem. Not sure how to trace route it.

I get this all the time one video plays fine the next is stop/start stop/start and takes an age to buffer enough to play a few seconds before it is back to stop start some days it's completely fine other days I can't get a vid to play through completely at all and changing the quality settings from HD to SD  makes no difference at all it's like it just gives up trying to buffer the video after a few seconds and then struggles to maintain enough data to keep playing the video

Hi Guys

We would love a TCP Dump of the issue, so we can feed it back to facebook to resolve.

Try again during peak hours and let us know, I was consistently getting between 1 to 5Mb/s download speed. It slightly improved after complaining since mid December but most evenings it was totally un-usable. Couldn't work, couldn't play online games, couldn't download a 150MB driver.

I just switched providers, couldn't tolerate it any more.

I find the buffering tends to happen later in the evening, that said I don't look at FB a lot during the day.

Have you got any browser extensions installed?  Ad Blocking? Ghostery? anything else?  Try disabling any extensions and try again.

The only extensions I have installed are google docs and a page load timer (which I installed to show Orcon how awful their UFB speeds were).

This is the speed after switching to Voyager. I actually got better results than this during peak hours.

Before the switch I ended up routing all my internet traffic through my work VPN connection just so I could use the internet.

Yes, I tried using my own, i.e. only root hints, google's DNS servers, Orcon's, Voyager's, it never had any impact. Speedtest.net always showed the highest possible speeds to local servers but DSLreports showed the real picture, i.e. international traffic was more or less broken.

I'm getting off my soap box now because the new connection is working very well.

Hi Guys

We found a potential issue yesterday with our Facebook CDN, which we have resolved.

Interested in hearing if any more facebook video buffering occurs on a regular basis.
