Have been with Snap/2degrees (100/50 fibre plan with phone for around $150 a month)  broadband for a few years . I also pay separately for spotify and netflix, and have 4 mobile plans with skinny.

I can move my fibre to Spark 200/200 for $130 per month inc. phone, and one of my mobiles too so I can claim the $10 bundle discount.

Doing this will save $28 per month on spotify/netflix fees, $10 per month bundle discount (roughly), and $20 per month on the cheaper plan fees.

So , by moving to a faster fibre plan with spark will save me nearly $60 per month. Close to the amount I was paying for Sky before I cancelled that haha.

Unless 2degrees has anything they can do for me?

What is the best way to move to minimise service outage?

Sign up to new company.

Wait for them to connect you.

Check everything is working.

Cut off your old company.

It's very important to do things in this order.

Since you're moving from 2d to Spark, the settings are the same, so you don't even need to reconfigure or swap your router. If everything goes well you'll only get a few seconds of downtime.

just give enough time so your plan wont roll over to a new pay period during the switch

Common sense is not as common as you think.

OK, thanks for this, I'll talk to spark sometime over the next few days.

I was looking at truenet stats too, orcon look like one of the best performing ISP's right now -- vodafone don't look too flash.

just my 2c :)

Seems like a good deal if you require the home phone, 200/200 speeds & are happy moving your mobile over to Spark.

Otherwise, doing some rough Excel math, you could look at the 2degrees $95 100/20 plan which is $59 for the first year, effectively $77 a month. They have a mobile discount option too.

The Spark Netflix deal looks to me like it's a 1 year account on a 2 year broadband contract - so over the term of the contract you'd be paying for it in the second year.

Taking all of this into account, you'd be paying $3,060 for two years of service with Spark including the second year Netflix sub and a mobile discount or $2,520 to 2degrees for the same period, with a paid subscription to Netflix & Spotify separately and not including a 2degrees mobile - this drops to $2,280 if you did move your phone

Much appreciated, I did not do the full 2 year math.

To clarify a little, I prefer to retain or improve existing service performance,  ie, the 100/20 option and the 2degrees mobile network are not viable options for me.

In my scenario I improve service performance by shifting to spark 200/200, and save ~$60 per month (for the first year, ~$45pm in the second year). FIgures might be a little out because the spark mobile plan is a little more too, but , get more data.

Just my 2c also. The Spark mobile network is far more superior than the 2degrees mobile network from experience and trust me when I say I've had quite a bit of experience with all 3 mobile companies. Their broadband network is rock solid too.

Hi Surfisup,

Sorry to see you are looking at leaving 2degrees. If you are still on a 100/50 connection, these plans are retired and there is far better value to be had on one of our current plans (for example, you could get 200/20 unlimited for $119.95 ($95 unlimited base price (100/20 rates), $24.95 speed boost to 200/20), with Home Phone plus an additional $15/month on top (includes your NZ and AUS landline calling for free, as well as Voicemail, Caller ID and Call Waiting features free).

If you go on a 2 year term, the unlimited base price is $59/month for the first 12 months, and if you have a 2degrees Pay Monthly account matched to your connection, you'll get a further $10/month discount on your broadband bill.

We do also have Gigabit UFB available nationwide, which is a boost price of $44.95 on top of the base price.

Hope that helps! Feel free to PM us if you'd like us to check out your account for you.

Thanks,

Ralph ^JOB
