Hi there,

This isn't a fault per se, as I've received a new Modem/Router to replace the white modem I received from Orcon when I upgraded to VDSL.

The modem is ASUS DSL-AC68U. I brought this to increase the coverage area in the house and to have only one unit that can do everything as opposed to having a standard wireless modem AND a separate powerful router to widen the coverage area.

However unlike on the back of the NF4V modem that was supplied by Orcon, the AC68U doesn't have inputs for the bundled phoneline. The ASUS unit did come with a VDSL splitter but wouldn't this be just for those who have a fixed line from Spark AND VDSL from a separate ISP, no?

When I tried the splitter, the phoneline wouldn't work so I was just wondering if anyone has a modem of similar nature and it's all working perfectly OR of they had to buy an additional piece of hardware for the bundled phoneline OR EVEN STILL....if I'll just have to resort to Orcon's modem and just buying a separate wireless router?

Kind regards

Cade

As you have found out, the ASUS doesn't act as an ATA for phone so the most straightforward route is to leave the NP4V for the modem and phone and use the ASUS as a wireless AP.

That way Orcon does the hard bits and will be able to respond to requests for help and be able to update the modem software if needed.

You don't need to buy another device. Your AC68U can be set up to do the wifi stuff.

You can't have one unit that does everything since you need the NF4V for voice.

You can either use the NF4V as your primary router and use your new device simply as an access point or use that as the primary router and plug in the NF4V for voice.

Yea thanks guys, that's kinda what I thought. I just wanted to double check.

Appreciate the feedback. The unit is now in AP mode :)
