Hi,

I have a mate in Upper Hutt who has an Asus wifi DSL68U router which has really good wifi (the myRepublic's "free" wifi is no where as good but he's stuck on it).  So now he's swapped from ADSL to UFB but cant get the Asus to work.  So I am popping up to give him a hand, does anyone know how it connects? looks like its simply DHCP?  aka like vodafone UFB?

Since he's having issues, any wrinkles I might fall over?

You've pretty much got it covered in the link above. DHCP, no VLAN tag.

Oh, and given the DSL-68U presumably has an xDSL port, you need to make sure you can use an ethernet port on the WAN. Maybe check the specs first to make sure you can do this.

It was bought on the basis it can,

http://www.ascent.co.nz/productspecification.aspx?itemID=424921

"Dual-Band Wireless-AC1900 Gigabit ADSL/VDSL Modem Router
· Dual-purpose wireless router and DSL modem, featuring DSL WAN port and switchable Ethernet WAN/LAN ports in a single space-saving device
· Compatible with ADSL2/2+, ADSL, VDSL2, fiber and cable services for complete future-proofing "

If its not going to work we will be chatting to ascent for a swap out or refund.

but I am pretty sure Asus released a firmware upgrade for it. I know he's flashed it recently I told him to I thought that might of got it going seems not.

I'll try and remember to collect & post some screenshots as I go along.
