Hi all,

My brother has just tonight moved from Spark Fibre to 2 Degrees Fibre. Internet is working fine, but the landline (Well VOIP) is not working at all
The 2 Degrees supplied modem is a Fritz 7490z, my brother has tried both ports on the modem for plugging the phone into.
There was no "switch-over" at the house as such, it was all done at the cabinet.
He has rung 2 Degrees helpdesk to no avail (Well the help desk says everything looks good their end).

Thoughts?

Thanks,

Terry

If you go in to the modem settings then on the overview page it should show if any phone lines are setup

There are none and the helpdesk was not really supportive of even getting to that point.
My brother got there all on his own and asked me WTF?
Sorry, never setup a 2 Degrees setup BUT I would have thought instrustions would have been sent with the modem or a 2 degrees person would help set it up.
My brother says not, switch was made and that was it.

Go to the 2degrees broadband site and login. There's a section there to manage the phone number - including voice mail and redirection.

Can he see his phone number on that portal?

If he can is redirecting to his mobile number (assuming one is available) working?

If all this is true then it's just the router configuration.

Assuming they remembered to ask to port the number too....?

It should be provisioned and config remotely able to be done if not already based on login sent from them.

In theory under 'telephone numbers' you should see their landline number in 0xxxxxxxx format, with the provider as connect1.plus.snap.net.nz (well, is on mine but we are legacy) with a to be determined default PASS to go with the ph number as username

Then under Telephony Devices you specify the FON port used against above configured number. Or add your Fritz! app on your mobile for remote extension calling :D (it works wonders btw!)

If all else fails, call for help

Earth to Ralph, come in Ralph.

Very important point. Does he remember asking for number porting, and entering the Spark account number?

You're expecting way too much. Practically no ISP will do this any more.

Hi all,

Thanks for the ideas, unfortunately I think my brother has just gone to out. (Go figure).
I think he has had enough with trying to sort this out tonight.
I'll get back to you tomorrow.

Actually it seems they have indeed moved to a DIY approach these days 0.o

That is only for people who are not using a fritzbox. If using the fritzbox that is assigned to the account the phone line setting should automatically be pushed to the modem when it is first connected to the internet.

From my first post

Tel69:
The 2 Degrees supplied modem is a Fritz 7490z

From your link
"If you have signed up to Consumer Broadband with Home Phone Plus without taking a FritzBox"

They have a Fritz, BUT VERY good advice to check those settings in their Fritz box.
Thanks,
Terry

Hi all,

I'm embarrassed to say this seems like user caused.
Both my nephew and my brother were moving to 2 Degrees.
My nephew was moving sooner but had not recieved his Fritz box, BUT my brother had recieved his.
Soooo (you can see where this is heading) my nephew borrowed my brothers Fritz box and then gave by brother his Fritz box when it was recieved.
Guess what, only one of those accounts/Fritz boxes had a telephone number attached to it.

My nephew checked his fritz box and sure enough there were calls missed to a phone he did not have.
The phone number is locked down to whats provided by the ISP is what both my brother and nephew have learned.

Thanks VERY much
