Hi all,

I tried joining my company network via PPTP VPN using my iPhone hotspot feature but I couldn't get a connection. I have tested the same setup via wireless without issue.

Do 2degress allow PPTP across their network or is there something I missing (likely!)

Thanks in advance,

Peter.

Thanks - although I can't see where to enter a new APN with all the details shown on an iPhone 7 IOS 10 device...

All I get are APN name, username and password fields.

I suspect this is due to Apple removing PPTP support with iOS 10. They've removed PPTP clients, but I think that PPTP passthrough is also gone.

Was going to mention that PPTP isnt that well used anymore due to security etc - anyone else at your work use the VPN via their iPhone ?

Nope, this is the one and only user who requires this feature...

Looks like it is an iOS issue - lots of others in the same boat... https://discussions.apple.com/thread/7673183?start=0&tstart=0

Righty-o, so I have ditched the PPTP config and instead have setup L2TP/IPSec with pre-shared key. I have tested this via my iPhone (via WiFi) and it connects.

Guess what, switch over 4G and it fails to connect.

Does any VPN at all work over mobile data?

You may need to use unlockit.co.nz to set a custom APN on your device as the 2D carrier bundle may have APN settings switched off.
