Well, if any one with them and have international speed no more then 700kbps please reply... 'coz I feel like (and support act like) I'm the only one who's connection sucks :(

everyhting was brillian when I connected on march 20 for a month and one week... then speed is constantly decriasing and sometimes is like dial up :(

I have the same issue with my naked DSL connection with Supra. Fast off peak, but dialup speeds to international sites during peak times.

Seriously though, I think there won't be any ISP immune to this problem at certain stage. More and more people will be using file sharing technologies and our ISPs are simply not prepared for that - because they are dumb.

that's so true.... i'd preffer constant 1 or 2mbit unlimited connection (like every wester country have) rather then that super-druper orcon/anyother speed plan with low data cap :(

There is nothing stopping you having that now. Just don't expect to pay $19.95 per month for it.

People everywhere in the world are complaining about their ISP's at present, it's not just a NZ thing. The reality is P2P bandwidth is increasing exponentially and lots of ISP's can't cope with this.

I think most ISPs use poor data to contruct future predictions - and think that growth is linear.

This isn't the dot com bubble burst period.

sbiddle, have not seen such a plan with "reasonable" price like in EU/North America/Korea/Japan/Russia

well ive just changed from ihug to snap night owl.

everything's going fine. i didnt switch from ihug to snap because of speed issues, it was the unlimited data that i joined for.
128k from 7am tp 7pm, im at work during those hours anyway so no biggie. transition from ihug to snap was less than 24 hours.

p2p.. crikey.so old school

international surfing speed at the moment is good, youtube blazes from midnight onwards not surprisingly as most of new zealand has jumped offline by then..

right now youtube is doing a little buffering and not to the point where im shouting obscenities because its taking ages to load.

funny thing is i got voicemail yesterday to advise that my login was active as of 5pm.. got home from work after 6ish and hmm.. no go.. tried a few more times and no IP address. Called snap helpdesk and they said.. "hmm all looks good, we've got it active on 06 849xxx..." and i stopped him and said.. no its 07 mate.. 07..

"okay it appears someone has entered the area code incorrectly, well get a hold of telecom wholesale to see if we can process provisioning for tomorrow"

i wasn't angry, i thought it was funny though.. to their credit, they managed to get a hold of telecom wholesale after hours and they reset the connection and i was up and running shortly after

test from rapidshare servers right now and getting 400 kB/s which pretty much maxes my usual bandwidth regardless of the time of day

Damager, it was EXCELLENT for the first month! I download with at least 350kB/s and at most at 600kB/s

a week ago... everything changed to the crappy 100kB/s at most all da time.

to some servers it's 20kB/s :( a week ago those servers gave me 600kB/s and these are mine overseas servers so nothing is affecting speed there :(

what speed is your modem synching at? Mine very rarely jumps off 4000 kb/s, but the one time it did drop to 1000 kb/s, i called ihug and transfield confirmed there was fault in the line between me and the local cabinet.. soon as the fault was repaired.. my synch speed went instantly back to 4000 kb/s.

did some international speed tests now and im getting 600 to 700 kb/s from san francisco and los angeles

after readying Xnet related topic on international speed... some people say that Static and other IP issues are also could be a fator of the speed "limitations"

a 7-10 days ago my IP was in the range of 123.255.60.* and I had great speeds... now my IP with range of 210.255.206.* and speeds are very slow :(

A study i saw a while back actually showed that p2p wasnt the biggest hog, and that it was the boom of sites like youtube etc.
Theres a hell of a lot more people using youtube than there are using p2p.

My IP is 118.????? and slowwwww download speeds...
