Hi There,

I'm on Orcon UFB and I've got a DrayTek Vigor 2760 and have been trying to get this to connect in place of the NF4V.

Can anyone tell me how I can get this to connect up? I have tried the following with no internet connectivity.

PPPoE - Vlan 10 tagged - user and password blank - Chorus ONT has all the right lights and Orcon Service desk recons they can see me connected, but no internet

DHCP - Vlan 10 tagged - no internet

Static IP (I have a static IP on my Orcon account, but they cant supply me a Gateway or Subnet apparently) - Vlan 10 tagged - no internet

Obviously just getting the "sorry cant help with 3rd party modems" from the help desk, and have googled it to bits and cant seem to find a decent guide.

What are the settings required to get 3rd party modems to connect up on Orcon UFB, or is it not possible? If so, time to move to Spark.

Cheers

Sam

As far as I'm aware Orcon only use DHCP for residential connections.

We only support PPPoE and DHCP on UFB.

Your static IP will be assigned Dynamically using one of the above protocols. Static IP configured on the modem won't work.

When you use the NFV4 does it work and do you get internet with your assigned static IP?

Hey Yeah the NF4V works fine.

So the settings I should be using are DHCP, with Vlan10 tagged. Is there anything else I should be checking?

Just for info, this is the 3rd modem I have tried with Orcon. I've tried a Asus RT N66U with DDWRT on it and another one I had lying around.

Has anyone managed to get a 3rd party modem working on Orcon or is it simply not possible with their setup?

Cheers,
Sam

There are no issues using a 3rd party router with Orcon and there are plenty of threads on here discussing it You simply won't have a VoIP line.
