Hi,

I've just switched to Orcon on VDSL. Previously I was with Spark on ADSL. My old Spark-supplied HG659b is a significantly better modem in that (a) it supports 5GHz Wifi and (b) it's user interface is much friendlier, and (c) it's already configured for my NAT and devices and so on.

What do I need to do to use my old HG659b modem instead of the new Orcon "Genius" NF4V? Are them some VDSL settings I need to copy from the Orcon modem and install on the HG659b?

Orcon Support can't help (not that I'd expect them to).

Frank

If you are on naked broadband it should be pretty straightforward, the VDSL preset for Spark on the HG659 (tagged PPPoE) should also work for Orcon VDSL.

If you have a landline running off the NF4V you might need to reconfigure it to work behind the HG659, or you can do a bit of mucking around to extract the SIP credentials (if this is still possible).

Maybe, I think some ISPs may be accepting both PPPoE and DHCP nowadays.
