My 7390 died tonight without warning, so looking for a new modem/router for VDSL until fiber comes along.
Is the 7490 the most current one? Does it work well?
Or other suggestions?
I did like the 7390's isolated guest network.

There is a newer one, latest being 7590 but I'm not sure if it's available here.

Pretty stoked with my 7490, the WiFi is much better on the 7490 compared to the 7390.  You can often pick up a 7490 for a relatively good price on TradeMe.

Did the 7390 have a 5 year warranty? My 7490 from 2D does so might be worth bouncing it back to them.

Also try changing the power pack for another one, it may resolve the issue if it is power relates.

regards

John

Thanks, I will check on the warranty. Unfortunately I haven't got a power pack that fits into the 7390's hole. That was my first thought too!

Use one of these as a replacement PSU for your 7390, and get the bonus of a DC UPS. I use the Sentry Lite with a 7AH battery, but I have 100AH of batteries on a solar charger I can swap in.

Where are you JayADee? If you're in Wellington I can help you test the Fritz 7390. I find the WiFi works fine in my standard sized house, but I have it mounted quite high up.

Timmmay, thank you for the generous offer, I'm very far away from you unfortunately. I will have another scrounge around the house to see if I can find a power pack and contact 2degrees as well.

The 7490 can't be any worse than the 7390 for range. I mount ours high on the wall in the middle of the house as well. It just manages to cover the house.

An update... good news, 2Degrees is sending me a replacement as it is still under warranty. I am sending them the old one in a provided courier bag so they can perform an autopsy. Thanks everybody and 2Degrees.
