Blocking Calls From Certain Countries

does any one know if 2 degrees offer this? i have asked them but the general response from them is no.

i have done some googling and there is meant to be a option for match criteria in android but i cant seem to find it in the s8+, google also suggests that Samsung has removed the option from their menu

Hi @sparkz25

@Linux is right we can't block whole countries but if you're getting spam calls from individual numbers we'd like to know about it we may be able to block them.

Please PM us if you're getting unwelcome, constant calls or texts from identifiable numbers along with your number and 4 digit PIN.

The problem is that even if you block certain countries, that won't stop the phone spam. I have received spam calls that were clearly not from NZ from Auckland numbers.. Its way too easy to spoof phone numbers.

Because they would still have some customers? I thought the money from incoming calls was long gone from mobiles which is why its now a mess of spam calls now?

My suggestion is to use the 2degrees Call Manager for their Home Phone Plus service. You can access it under 'Home Phone Plus' - 'Change Settings' after logging into your broadband account page. Every time I get a spam caller, I create a new contact for that number ("Block1", "Block2", etc. etc.) then add all those blocked contacts to a contact group ("Block") then I create a Rule that says if I receive a call from that contact group ("Block") reject the call, otherwise, ring through to my phone.

You can also do this in the Fritzbox too, if you have one, but I prefer to block the call a bit further up the chain.

I got very frustrated with spam callers from ostensibly overseas numbers and when I was told their was nothing that could really be done, I reverted to the above. Please let me know if you want to provide a bit more of a thorough guide for creating the blocking rules in the 2d Call Manager.

this is on a mobile connection, the problem is that the number changes for every call that they make, so you are constantly blocking numbers and they are constantly calling you,

@2degreesCare even if i sent you the list of numbers its actually not going to work, you need to be able to block a country or have the option to be able to block a range of numbers,

all the searches in google for blocking a range of numbers with in android seem to have that option removed for some reason

i have even tried blocking the numbers that they call me from and adding the +44 code and so on to the list but nothing works

I am in Christchurch and have precisely the same problem with my mobile. Went and discussed with 2D staff and they all suggest changing my number... as if

Since 10 November+4470 and all different numbers eg 8042826, 2232020, 8955013, 4848623, 8042826, and so on

on 22 December +4422 became the prefix

Have tried Mr Number - did not stop the phone ringing then CallControl which promises to but also does not stop the phone ringing. I am driving a bus and if my employer gets me on CCTV even looking at my phone I face joblessness.

Turn on do not disturb mode with an exception for the number you are expecting a call from.

And it does work, very well indeed. The phone does not ring, nor do messages get accepted but local alarms from appointments still work. Thanks very much.
