Well decided after 18 months to transfer from Spark fibre to 2Degrees. Spent about 10 minutes chatting online with Spark person to make sure I didn't have to pay a 30 day exit fee to Spark. Assure that needed to get new ISP to port to them from Spark and give 30 days.

So 6th Feb placed order on 2Degrees website and inserted all details of what supplier with and account and when to start (1st March).

Assumed that 2Degrees would know to place order immediately as the 30 day notice is no secret and it should be common knowledge.

Nope port notified on 1st March and me with a $107 bill for nothing.

Why in today's market can't (a) Spark just do like others and manage with a shorter notice and (b) 2Degrees know how to port over from various ISP's

Not sure that there is much that can be done but sent a message on 2Degrees Facebook account and they said they would get back in 48 hours which is better than no reply on their web contact form

Spark may have been a bit more expensive but on the whole easier to contact.

Anyone managed to get Spark to wave this notice fee or maybe Consumer affairs getting a little more interested in the fact that extremely hard to change from Spark and not get a penalty at all.

I would just go back and use your chat that said what to do as a reason they shouldnt be charging you? You told them, they said what to do and you did it. If they try the BS that the CSR was mistaken say that you dont care about their lack of training and they said it as a representative of the company so it should stand.

Not sure if by using 2Degrees website it was my fault as assumed that the order would go through on 7th Feb and not the day they ported over to 2Degrees. Just annoyed that so complicated to change ISP without getting a penalty as hard to get exact day of 30 days with Spark .

Well maybe a job for next week when less work on

Hi @techleigh,

We'd like to look into this further for you to figure out what happened - usually we'll put through an order as soon as one of our team picks up for your requested date.

Could you please PM us with your address and customer number/username to investigate?

Kind Regards,
^BRM

Just to confirm, was this a copper based port or a Fibre based port?

Alright, that can be a little funny.

Chorus don't really do a whole RSP notification system for these sorts of ports.

Sent a message this morning. Not sure what happened but seems a little hard to change from spark with their 30 day period and then get internet on same day that they stop charging.

I put it about a week earlier than full 30 days as out of town on that day and teenagers would not appreciate lack of a lifeline and had to set up existing router to work with 2degrees
