Just switched to Orcon fibre and under settings the max clients allowed is set to 16 - seems rather low. Does anyone know how many clients the router can actually take? I've been having issues whereby some laptops wont connect and think this could possibly be why. Cheers

Hi there,

It's 16 on each channel, so 32 in total across 2.4GHz and 5GHz.

I'd suggest you go and grab the My Orcon app from the App Store/Google Play - you can change your Wi-Fi SSID there (or jump on My Orcon through our website) which I suspect will solve your laptops not connecting problem. If you've renamed your current SSID to be the same as your previous SSID this could cause problems, so changing the SSID to something entirely different should help.

Cheers,

Cam

Just be aware that in an average household connecting more than 16 devices to wireless on a single band has the potential to degrade performance significantly purely because of the way wireless works, and the reality than in an average home you will have devices connecting with poor signal strength that will kill the performance for everybody on that band.
