I got my SIM card delivered to me from 2degrees for a pay monthly plan, so I activated the SIM card and then logged on to the customer portal / web page to bring my number to 2degrees (from Skinny, I was on prepay).

I completed the form at around 18:30 on Thursday evening.

Come Friday (yesterday) morning, my number was still not ported.  Called 200 at around 08:00 in the morning and the guy said it will take two to 24 hours.

At round 17:30 Friday, 23 hours after my request, I am still waiting.  So called 2degrees again.  This time, the lady did not spend much time to look at first, and say it could take up to 48 hours to port a number.

Then I explained to her I called before and the guy said it should take just 24 hours, and I am not happy with the situation.  She put me on hold, and a few minutes later she said my number is at the final stage on porting and it should be ready in a few hours.  This is just before 18:00 yesterday.

It is now more than 36 (actually 37) hours after I submitted my request, I tried to call 2degrees again and contact center would not open till 8am.

I just rebooted my phone and my number is still not ported.  I tested this by sending a text from my phone to another 2degrees phone and it is showing the number I assigned by 2degress.  Funny thing is when I use that phone and text 300, with the number I want to port across, it said "Hi Good news!  The number you've asked us about is a 2degrees number."

@2degreesCare, can you help?  I will send you a PM.

FYI, my wife moved to 2degrees on account as well.  I submitted her number porting request at around 20:00 the same day (Thursday evening), and her was done on Friday morning.

May be I should not move to 2degress in the first place.

Which mobile provider are you leaving? I have seen issues leaving other providers if you have a failed order on the mobile number on the mobile provider you are leaving

I am leaving Skinny (not Skinny direct).

Funny thing is when my wife call the 021 number I wanted to port, a message will be played back to her something is not right.  And it is the male voice used by 2degrees.

So it seems like 2degrees somehow got the 021 number from Skinny, but for some reason cannot link my 021 number to the SIM.

Also, as I said, when I use a phone on the 2degrees network and send a text to 300, to check my 021 number is on net or not.  It said my 021 number is with 2degrees!  =-P

On the phone with 2degrees right now.  This time the gentleman sounds very helpful and he said he is looking at the bottom of this and asked me if I mind to be put on hold.

I said no worries, I rather to be on hold if it can be fixed while I am on the phone.

Just finished a call to 2degrees.  The gentleman was very polite and said he needs to ask the porting and provisioning team to investigate.  However, that team work Monday to Friday only.

I asked him to ask the team to contact me on Monday.  Hopefully it will be sorted by then.

I ported my number to different telcos before and usually it is a smooth process.  But this is like a marathon.

I feel for you.

I'm going through a similar marathon myself trying to port number back to Vodafone from Warehouse Mobile. Over 1 week now and have submitted the port request 3 times. Have created a post on the Vodafone Community site.

When porting mobile numbers the issue can be with the LSP as well and the GSP needs to follow up with the LSP and wait for issues to be sorted as well

No number still not ported so no indication of what the exact problem is.

Been given different explanations but my attempts to have my case escalated has so far failed.

As annoying as this is, as others have already, the porting teams are not 24/7 teams - at any carrier, to the best of my knowledge - so unfortunately you are very unlikely to have anything resolved before Monday. Sorry!

That's alright.  I work Monday to Friday as well.  I am actually quite happy to see companies with people only working on weekdays so everyone could have some time to themselves and with their families.

Also, we need time to be off work to browse geekzone as well.
