Just received:

We’re here to keep you online, all the time so we’ve just launched Backup Broadband, a new service for customers who have both their broadband and mobile with us. In the unlikely event there’s an issue with your broadband and we can’t sort it out when you give us a bell, we’ll hook you up with enough mobile data on your 2degrees mobile to see you through, no worries.

Backup Broadband data will be added to your account and used first so you won’t chew through your mobile data. You can share and hotspot all you like so everyone in your house stays connected while we get it sorted - after all, we can’t leave you all hanging at your final episode of The Crown now can we?

You’ll be able to see the Backup Broadband data balance on your 2degrees app and if you run out of Backup Broadband data and your broadband still isn’t working, just give us a call and we'd be happy to top you up again.

Backup broadband gives you peace of mind that you and your family can always stay connected to the world, because communication should be 2nd nature.

Haven't Vodafone been doing this for ages? I honestly thought this was already a thing at 2D.

This is definitely one of the big plusses to being with one of the larger providers.

Both Spark and Voda have been doing this for a while now, 2d is the last one to join.

Good job, hopefully will never need it  - but good to have in a pinch.

Wish 2degrees became a little quicker on the catch ups, or maybe even start leading the pack with innovations.. :)

How about being the first to deliver Fetch's IPTV via fibre?

Still good to have another option, and can't really blame them for using it as an excuse for some extra marketing. Pretty much all companies look for any excuse to release a new press release and make noise about new features, even one's that competitors already have. That's big business and marketing for you ;-)

Nicely done 2D, great to see the product formalized.

Hey, enough of the fake news - credit where credit it due - I'm fairly sure Oz minutes and SMS included in your plan and also carry over minutes & data, and free data sharing was leading the pack in N.Z. Besides, 2DM has not long had had a land-line company so they couldn't have done this 5 or so years ago.

They're first in the country for unlimited* plans and data clock, not bad for mobile.
