Just recently, I've been receiving calls with semi-regularity from different numbers (09 525 1588 & 26 445 1514) that when answered have a recorded female voice speaking in a (I assume Chinese?) language that I am not able to decipher.

Whilst it's inconvenient and annoying, it assumedly doesn't cost me anything but my time.

I've blocked both of these numbers but colleagues (not on 2D) are also getting the same calls from different numbers.

Seems different to the Wangiri scam calls - there's no prompt to call back and as it's not in English I can't understand the message...

Anyone know anything more about this particular issue?

I received a phone call from 09 525 1588 on Tuesday arvo, although I missed the call and it went to voicemail. The number is for the Chinese Consulate General in Auckland.

I used Google Translate to figure out what the message said, it was something about picking up documents at the Consulate or Embassy because they were about to expire. I called them back however there was no answer, to make things worse their voicemail was full.

I gave up and sent them an email, letting them know that they had the wrong number. Very odd.

Hmm...very strange.

Perhaps its an IP phone system that's been hacked?

Thanks 2DC.

What you see here is what it is...I've blocked the numbers, so shouldn't have too many ongoing issues, but will follow through if I get more from different numbers.

Looks like we got too many spam calls threads going, but the different titles get lost

Along with the One the fearless leader linked I had raised it in another existing.

Just received a call with recorded message in Mandarin from 027 521 0300. Something about DHL (yeah, right). Reported details to @2degreesCare as requested above.

Keep calm, and carry on posting.

I've also received the same call, but from 0270406268. I'm on Warehouse Mobile, so effectively 2degrees.

Number has been blacklisted locally on phone, so who knows how many times they've tried calling.

Not sure why this was set as the answer, you should never call the number back that dials you as it's likely spoofed anyway.
