We wanted to give you a heads up about a change on our network to protect our customers from cyber attacks. Starting this week, we’ll begin blocking inbound traffic (TCP/UDP) on a range of ports for some of our customers in the South Island. The change will be rolled out to the rest of our customers at a later date.
Important note: this won’t affect your normal internet browsing, video streaming, gaming or email services. If you run onsite email servers, web servers, or remotely access your router, you might be impacted by this change.
If you are impacted, you’ll easily be able to revert the changes yourself by turning off port filtering in the My Orcon customer portal once the functionality goes live this week.
