Hey guys,

I got Fibre installed today (yay!) but even though I registered for Gigabit with 2degrees, I seem to only be getting about 95Mbps on Download.

Funnily enough upload seem to be a lot more (~410Mbps on fast.com and similar on speedtest.net)

I called 2degrees and the said provisioning looked good on their end, etc.

Before anyone ask:

- I am using the 2deg provided Fritzbox 7490
- I am testing from a (grunty) ethernet connected desktop
- I am getting 93-95 consistently on speedtest.net and fast.com
- Windows says I have a gigabit connection to my Fritz (and the 400Mbps upload probably indicates that)
- The Lan1 on the (Chorus) ONT is Orange (Seem to indicate 1000Mb connection)
- The Fritz is connected to the ONT via the provided ethernet cable
- I tried 2 different PC, same result

Anything else I missed?

Cheers

I don't have the same box etc but when mine was playing up it was to do with a port forwarding etc.  Maybe try a reset of the router

The first thing I'd suggest is checking that your 7490 isn't in green mode:

home network / home network overview / network settings. Power mode is what you need.

All 4 ports are in Power Mode (orange)

There's been the odd occasion where this has happened before, and it's been a provisioning error with the connection.

I know, right. And here I was fairly confident the issue wasn't on my side...

What! No phoning your ISP everyday for six months swearing black n blue that it is their fault and they better fix it or you'll change ISPs lol. Goes to show though how some "faults" can be a headache for both customer & helpdesk. Great to see it sorted fast from great advice here.

I had this problem, and complained to 2degrees for ages, who were pretty sure had the correct configuration set. At the end I tested with a small form-factor desktop they sent here and found out it was not my network but the computers - all running Windows 10 with default drivers.

I imagine now how many millions of people have sub-optimal network performance because of Windows 10 and the default drivers...

Only two laptops here. The Amazon Fire TV Gen 1 is 100 Mbps limited anyway. All other devices are WiFi only.
