I'm having similar problems to the OP in this thread, https://www.geekzone.co.nz/forums.asp?forumid=85&topicid=239596, however, I hit the wall at 200MBPs - have I been provisioned incorrectly or is there something wrong at my end?

I have a direct ethernet connection to the router which is indicating 1G, I'm using the provided Fritzbox and cables. the ONT is green (pre-existing from the previous owner). I'm on a Mac so I don't know how the solution from the other thread applies, if at all.

Any ideas or do I call 2D?

As alluded to above, Power and Optical should be green, but LAN1 should be orange. If it's green then it's only connecting to your router at 100 Mb/s.

Ok so I've checked again and the LAN light the same colour as the power light (and the other light, whatever that is) which is the same colour as the fritzbox lights, but not as vibrant a green as my timecapsule. I'd say it is green but on the yellow side. What colour should it be for gigabit? I do get 200MBps so that goes against it being green!

It's definitely not orange. I'll call 2degrees on Monday unless they're open tomorrow. FWIW I'm in LAN 2 as that's where they told me to plug it in.

Plug your PC into the ONT directly and see whether it goes orange.

What model is your router?

ONT LAN light should be orange for Gig.

Check the power saving mode (green mode?) isn't turned on on the Fritz - that will limit to 100Mb/s. Also try a different patch cable between ONT & router.

Is this a newly provisioned connection? What model Fritz? Was it doing 1G before? What ONT LAN port?

OK, LAN2 can't provision to 1G - it's limited to 200Mb/s.

The connection needs to be provisioned on LAN 1 - there's only a small number of plans from Chorus on LAN 2

Power saving mode is off

It is a new connection (for me)

The previous owner was with vodafone (who told me there is no fibre here) and from memory had green lights but I don't know what speed he was supposed to have. I'm on LAN2 (presumably because the previous owner was on LAN1).

Will try a different cable and going straight to the ONT tomorrow - it's tucked behind a filing cabinet now.

this is the problem then, and it explains the 200MB/s

From memory, limited to 200/20 or 100/20 depending on the LFC on LAN 2-4. Essentially, you can only get Gig on LAN1, and any secondary connection will be slower.

It's probably been provisioned on LAN2 because an old connection/tenant is is using LAN1 - once their connection is terminated, get @2degreescare to flick it over to LAN1 for full speed.

I'm getting 150-200 up which is what I couldn't understand as if I was on the wrong plan it would have been slower up.

You're right about the previous owner as the 2 degrees people asked if it was a second connection I was getting, then when I explained we were just moving in they said that vodafone still had an active connection on LAN1, or something along those lines.

What were you expecting? 1000/500?

2D just won't have been able to set up on LAN1 as usual due to the old connection - the CSR may not have realised the limitations of not using LAN1 as it's not a common scenario...
