I have a Sony X3 handest with 2 Degrees prepay. I have registered for Data Clock.

It would appear that whenever I roam, I lose the data connection. I get a notification saying that data clock is unavailable when roaming, which is fine as the times I've noticed this I haven't had data clock active.

I have checked the phone settings, data while roaming is enabled. There is data that can be used loaded against my account.

By roaming, I'm talking about within NZ, driving SH1, in places where 2D don't have adequate coverage.

Is this normal, a fault with my handset, or something else?

Thanks.

Probably missing the APN. Go into settings and ensure APN 'internet' or '2degrees Internet' is selected (path will be along the lines of Settings > Wireless & Networks > Mobile Network > Access Point Names)

If you go into APN settings and there aren't any in there you'll need to set one up -

Name: 2degrees Internet
APN: internet
Authentication Type: None
APN type: default,supl

Save > Activate

Title should read ' No data while national roaming Prepay '

SH1 is quite long can you provide example locations? National roaming is very limited now and 2D customers can't roam onto Vodafone sites just in low / no coverage locations many locations outside of main centres are now locked out for national roaming

But as above check the APN is set ' internet '

Thanks for taking the time to reply. Unfortunately, everything is set exactly as you've described above and still no data when roaming.

@Linux,

SH1 between Bulls and Waiouru. Also the Vinegar Hill road between SH1 and Fielding (thats just this week, but to be honest, any national roaming and my data drops out).

What data pack do you have?

Only ask as data clock stops the ability to use casual data and if it's a mobile broadband pack (rather than national data or combo) you can only use that on-net.

Not that then!

How many APN's do you have in total in the APN list on the handset?

Just two - 2 Degrees internet and MMS.

If you edit the 2Degrees internet APN the actual APN is ' internet ' ? no spaces

Sorry, to be more clear, the name is 2D Internet, but the Apn type is just 'internet'

Does your phone support 3G 900mhz? As you can't roam onto Vodafone 4G.

Does data still work if you disable 4G?
