Hi Everyone,

This is my first post so please go easy on me ;-)

I recently had Orcon fibre installed and I still can't use it, I have two options, one is to double NAT, which I don't want to do, but if I have to I will, however the high quality NetComm router provided will not allow allow NAT on port 80 as the internal config runs on that, and if I try to change it the whole thing locks up and I have to hardware reset it. Any tips on this would be good too.

My preferred option, which is what I really want help with is connecting the ONT directly to PFSense, and I haven't been able to get it to go, no matter how I configure VLan 10 and PPPoE it wont connect, has anyone done this and got some notes/tips/how to that they are prepared to share with me? Orcon haven't been very helpful, and don't seem to get the idea that I don't want to use their "high quality" router, (I have an email from the support that says "why would anyone want to do that?", clearly they have a router that NATs port 80).

Thanks for reading my email!

Paul.

It isn't PPPoE so this is where you're going wrong.

Configure PFSense with DHCP over VLAN 10 (see here: https://www.geekzone.co.nz/forums.asp?forumid=49&topicid=174969) and it should work. No need to use the Netcomm either.

Thank you!

My mistake was following the advice offered by the Orcon team ;-) I should have known better.

Changing the WAN configuration from PPPoE to DHCP and a quick reboot and everything works like a charm.

Now to change public DNS and I'm away ;-)

Thanks again

Cheers, Paul.
