I would like to thank 2Degrees and all their staff that helped me to get back online.

Wont go into the finer details, but I was offline for 12 days. 2D assisted me to demonstrate that my ONT was faulty and got the contractor to come out on a weekend to replace the faulty unit.

Also, big props to Nick for providing tips on this forum to make our connections better!

Couldn't agree more regarding @NickMack - really appreciated the 2degrees team getting to the bottom of my internet speeds proving Windows was the culprit (and switching me back to Linux).

Also thanks to @NickMack for the details on the IPv6 fixes, and for proactively keeping us in the loop when that peering issue occurred. As it is good to know that if I have a really weird problem that the call center can't fix. There are people like you available as well.

And thanks to 2degrees just for existing. I remember how much mobile minutes, data etc cost before they came along. Customers of Spark and Vodafone should also be happy, as 2degrees forced them to lower their prices.

As part of my appreciation, I'm upgrading my plan, from the $40 to the $55 one. I actually need more data. So there is another reason to upgrade.

I have really fond memories of the SNAP helpdesk back in my uni days in ChCh, and 2degrees have lived up to that so far. Big props. cool

I want to add to this. Due to the great support that reflected from 2degrees on Geekzone I decided to move my mobile from Vodafone to 2degrees today (after much thought!).

I first went into the Vodafone store - was stopped by the lady who said "If you're asking about the new iPhone then we don't have any information. You need to wait until tomorrow" - now the thing is, I was merely looking at the iPhone wall, I didn't even mention anything.

When I visited the 2degrees store on Willis Street here in Wellington I was greeted nicely for a start, I said to him "I know you don't have any information regarding the iPhones yet but I am interested in your plans" - well, he walked me through the plans, bought up the broadband discount and got me all sorted out, also showed me how data sharing works and gave me some Prepaid sims so I can data share to them. The whole time he was really chatty and just nice to deal with.

In 2 hours I will no-longer be a Vodafone customer. It is amazing how a welcoming approach to customers helps and I am now glad I don't need to fight with Vodafone to keep my discounts etc or deal with their damn call centre anymore.

So thanks Samuel (from the Wellington store!) you pushed me over the edge to joining up in a very friendly and professional manner - I also loved your banter! Keep it up. I'm now all set for grabbing my new iPhone!

@2degreesCare Please pass this feedback across :)

Make sure you organise a refund of any credit they owe you straight away. Otherwise they'll start charging you $5 for an inactive account, I'm sure it really costs them a lot of money to deal with inactive accounts /s...

I use 2degrees fiber, after moving from Snap. It "Just Works". It's as fast as it should be, and routing is done well - unlike some other telcos who do really weird things. On the rare occasion I have to call them I find the helpdesk actually helpful, but I don't remember when I had to last call them. The only suggestion I have to improve when a fixed term plan ends it would've been nice to get notification, but I had a reminder in my calendar anyway, and I got the same plan cheaper with 2 minutes in the control panel.

I thought of that but any credit will get eaten up by the remainder of my phones interest free payments. Just need to ensure I stop the automatic payment, pay my bill and get the hell out :)

Another reason I have a strong dislike for Vodafone - when they pull stunts like this.

On another note - had my first call on 2degrees to my mother using WiFi calling. Quality was very good, the call was stable and I would have thought I was just on the cell network otherwise. 26mb for a 1hr 20min call according to my Edgerouter. Also on the train didn't have a single spot of 2G coverage and instead had 4G most of the way with pockets of 3G - coming out of the tunnel on the train (where there was no mobile coverage) to my phone straight away being on 4G instead of 2G was a welcome surprise. The network has really become quite decent since I was last with them.

I couldn't agree more. 2d have been awesome with us as well for both broadband and mobile. we had a few issues changing our business across from spark but 2d got to the bottom of everything pretty promptly and set us up with data and calls even tho the stuff up was not their fault. We were also not charged anything for the calls\data which was awesome. They were proactive in doing everything within there power to get us up and running. we have been that impressed with there service that we have changed our personal accounts to them too.

I would be remiss if I didn't say thank you to @2degreescare and @NickMack for their help working through a fault not of their own. Also their help when moving parents-in-law from DSL to fibre - which involved changing providers, moving location, porting numbers, etc.

Also 2degrees is sponsoring the Geekzone Pizza in Christchurch so there's that... Quite a few registrations already and half moderators will fly to CHC to participate - you folks should consider too...

If it was Auckland I'd be all over it, I'd love to meet some of you guys some time. I even owe a few of you a beer or two for all the help I've gotten here.

Or you could take a long weekend in our fine city ;-) Awesome weather today - sitting around 20 degrees, made it to 26 (http://weather.thenet.gen.nz/).
