As above. I have just received a scam SMS from 2828. It said - from Westpac, new internal notification And it had a bit.ly link that went to a fake Westpac login page.

My understanding is that you have to have a commercial agreement with a Telco to be able to send SMS from 4 digit numbers. So hopefully someone from the Vodafone fraud team can investigate it.

Posting in the Vodafone forum, as my number is an 021 number (although ported to 2degrees)

I did find a PDF on the Vodafone website that lists those short codes. But 2828 was not listed there.

Update

Have found an email address on the Westpac website for reporting scam emails. So have emailed the message to them as well.

Update 2

Dang, just found out that 2828 is a 2degrees short code, and the provider is
2degrees international A2P

Could the mods please move this post to the 2degrees forum. Thanks.

Hi Aredwood

Thanks for the heads up.

Can you PM us your number, 4 digit PIN and the time/date you received the text please? We're taking this up with the vendors who are terminating these SMS.

Regards
