Sometime between 7:10 and 7:50 on Tuesday (17th) latency reported by the USG dropped from around 45ms to 11/12ms where it remains. Let me say this is by no means unwelcome, in fact it seems like a very good thing but I'd like to know why it's happened?

I'm in Beachlands on 2degrees VDSL using a Ubiquity USG gateway and a Draytek Vigor 130. Profile is 8B. Line speed remains unchanged.

I'd welcome any thoughts because I'm baffled.......

Call and log a fault and say you want the latency back to how it was :P

Hiya,

We are upgrading all our core network routers at the moment to a newer version of Junos (to resolve some undocumented features, and to add some new ones - We're just over halfway, with a scheduled completion date of mid October), upgrading/adding handovers, peering tuning etc - So one of those or a combination of a few is the likely culprit. :-)

Nick.

Well whatever the reason it’s most welcome. Good job you didn’t have to drop IPv6 support to do it like some others :)

Thanks for the prompt response.

If the features are undocumented, how can you be sure you're adding any new ones?

iPad Pro 11" + iPhone 15 Pro Max + 2degrees 4tw!

These comments are my own and do not represent the opinions of 2degrees.

When you fix one NSA backdoor because it's now public it's safe to say it's been replaced with another one. smile

ddDLM is constantly monitoring xDSL connections and this can mean changes to latency as a result. G.INP can mean latency will drop without requiring fixed interleaving as was the case before.

There are a number of things that could have changed this so it's pretty hard to answer specifically, especially if 2degrees are making network changes as well.
