Have a browse through the MyRepublic forum and you'll find why you'll be hard pressed to find someone who would recommend them here.

Also, not to beat the dead horse so to speak an ex-staffer from MyRepublic spoke out in regards to their network and said it is just a "cheaply built pile of junk" SIC.

There are many better ISP's out there that are either the same price or not much more. For this, you're getting a far better network, better support and generally better performance.

Take it as you will, there is plenty of experience around MyRepublic on here and on GPForums and personally I'd never ever recommend them. If you want a better ISP in the same sort of price range then look into Stuff Fibre or 2degrees.

Edit: This thread is one where an ex-MyRepublic employee calls them out: https://www.geekzone.co.nz/forums.asp?forumid=165&topicid=236034

I know a few people on them, and while they said it was crap for a while, theyre quite happy with them again now.

Not to dismiss real issues, but i'll always take an ISP forum posts with a grain of salt.  People only ever come here to complain about their isolated issues and their always the most vocal..  Also i did go through the forum and it has a lot less complaining than many of the other ISP forums, however this is could be from smaller market share.

I'm going off word of mouth from friends in the area (Hibiscus Coast), seems as though most the infrastructure (fibre) up there is all good anyway and it's just the carrier who can give me the best deal, which would be MR.  Was looking at 2Degree's, but other review sites like Broadband compare rank them lower than MR.

@timbee Like you say - market share.

MyRepublic does have less customers thus less stuff online but also have a cheaply built network. I'm with 2degrees and they're great - as in, good speeds, good support and a great network. I simply can't support any ISP that adds marketing jargon to their plans (like stating their "gaming" plans are simply better and they're the fastest according to xx) etc. Word of mouth from what I've heard is stay away from MyRepublic from many many people.

2degrees bought Snap a few years back and since then have improved on the network. There is also Voyager who operate their own (very good) network and even Stuff Fibre which come in at nearly the same cost of MyRepublic but have a vastly better network since they've partnered with Devoli (Vibe Communications). Each of these ISP's don't provide you with CG-NAT and can also provide IPv6 if you want.

You've got plenty of better options out there. Also, I'd personally not believe many of the reviews on Broadband Compare as from what I've heard it is actually quite bias based on what kickback they get back from the ISP. You'll note, the providers who rate higher are the ones who provide a kickback (eg, Orcon, MyRepublic). Not saying this is true, it is just what I've heard from quite a few people now.

Just because it is a "good deal" doesn't actually mean it is - for this price, you're getting CGNAT (as in, no public IP) on a network with documented speed and routing issues in the past and even present. You've been warned. Also trust me, I've had a tonne of experience in this area and have a blog post on the subject too.

Not quite correct - there's a fair few threads here of people specifically posting good news stories about companies as well, which is good to see.

I'm considering joing after my current contract is up. I only use the 100/20 plan and torrent a little but seems to me Vodafone is capping my torrent speed to 300kb/s

I'm on Vodafone UFB, and I can max my 100/20 with torrents, so I don't think that's the case.

First person to PM me their customer ID (C100xxxx) number or reply to this post gets whatever MYR offers for referral

OP didn't give me his referral in PM so...

to elaborate, I'm signing up, in the signup window there is a box that asks

>>>Have you been referred by a friend? (Optional)

(C100xxxx)

@Coon best read up and on the several other threads on here. There are better providers...

Edit: to add. Your torrents are not being rate limited.
