I am using a Huawei data-card to stream live video to a Wowza server, and over the last few days I have noticed my connection is being forcibly closed at around 900 seconds - consistently.

The connection is not idle, as 1Mbps of live video is passing over it.

Af first I suspected my Wowza server, however, opening an SSL connection to another server demonstrated the same 'remote end terminated connection' at 900 seconds.

So I switched to my Vodafone sim... no problems.

I switched to my Spark sim... again, no problems.

I tried the same test, using my iPhone X (which is on a 2degrees SIM - a different SIM to my initial test).

Guess what... remote disconnect at 900 seconds!!!

What's going on? Why is 2degrees terminating my TCP connections when they reach 900 seconds old?

Thanks

I wonder if this is related or not, but recently I noticed my FaceTime calls are cut off at 15 minutes every time

Yeah, I've given my erstwhile mobile packet core colleague a poke already. :-)

iPad Pro 11" + iPhone 15 Pro Max + 2degrees 4tw!

That would be awesome to get some traction on this - I’ve had to dump my 2 degrees connection because of this. I received a reply on the topic on twitter from a 2 degrees rep, telling me to contact an email address - which I did to no reply. Replied back to the guy on Twitter - also no reply... so just figured it was a lost cause.

How long did you wait for a reply?

A while... um... 2 months? I started contacting the support dept around the time I opened this thread.

Just checked my email - the last time I emailed 2degrees was feb 8 this year. Radio silence.

I'm interested in this as well - I stream radio when walking / doing fitness stuff, and the same thing happens - I'd assumed it was the streaming portals doing it to manage too many users / reduce data by making users restart the stream every 15 minutes or so....
