I have a 2degrees prepay sim for my iPad but when I go to the app store to get the Data clock there's a message stating "this app requires specific features not available on this device" and the "get" button is greyed out.

As far as I can tell from their site it is usable for iPads and prepay - anyone else had this problem?

thanks

Sue

Could you download the app on your mobile, and use that?

The iPad can not get incoming SMS so I suspect this is why

Works if you put the sim in amobile to activate it first. Same as for Data Hunt 👍

Also,if you download it on the same Apple ID, you should be able to ‘restore’ the purchase on the iPad from the App Store when switching to ‘iPhone apps’

I have used it on my iPhone but it is not available on the App Store to restore purchase for my iPad.
I want to be able to use the free data with each number (ie my iPhone &my iPad numbers).

The fact the device skips down to 3G when you commence a data clock session leads me to believe it uses a USSD command to initiate the session (rather than a sms which would send over 4G). To my knowledge ipad cannot do USSD (similar to a call).

Best you can do is put the sim in a phone, start the data clock session via the mobile app, then pop the sim back in ipad. You'd need to do this each time.

That's good to know. Should it be handing down to 3G everytime a session is purchased? It can take a good few minutes to go back to 4G on it's own without a device restart / airplane toggle. Trying to work out if it's my device playing silly buggers as it goes back to 4G instantly when ending a normal call so something seems a little different...

Ideally no it shouldn't, but because of the way the pack is currently activated, it does. Changes are in progress to fix that.
