I recently switched to Orcon from Bigpipe and I can't get my Orbi working as a router. Currently I've got the Orbi in AP mode connected to the Orcon-supplied router. This works, but I'd prefer to just use the Orbi.

I tried the settings listed on the PBTech page but no joy.

Has anyone got it working?

Thanks.

Have you had any luck?

I have 2 different ASUS routers that are supposed to connect to Orcon Fibre but had no luck. I am wanting to replace the shipped router that has really poor wifi.

Not yet. Someone has suggested that I need to factory reset the Orbi to clear out any remnants of previous config. I'll try and do this over the holidays.

I am on Orcon Fibre and use an Orbi RB50. I had hassles setting up even though I had added all the correct settings after a full reset. I gave up and disabled WiFi on the Orcon router and use the Orbi and as an access point with a satellite. All is working fine.

Yes, that's exactly my situation at the minute, but I don't like the solution - it feels a bit clunky. Still hoping I'll be able to get it working!

I am very interested in this topic.

I purchased the Orbi system from Noel Leeming on Boxing Day and I love it. Currently, I am on Spark ADSL and I have had all sorts of problems with WiFi dropout, which the Orbi has solved (EDIT: not directly related to the ADSL connection, but the layout of my house). But also problems with the Spark ADSL "glitching" multiple times a day. By glitching, I mean losing the Internet for seconds at a time - I thought that this was my old modem (Hg639), so I swapped this out for a newer, unused modem (Hg630), but the dropouts have continued. Now today, I signed up for Orcon fibre (950 Mbps down) and i was hoping that this would resolve my Internet dropouts. Now I am worried that I am going to generate another problem due to some incompatibility between the Orbi and Orcon.

I am keen to hear about any resolution/solution to this problem.

Move to New Zealand's best fibre broadband service (affiliate link). Free setup code: R587125ERQ6VE. Note that to use Quic Broadband you must be comfortable with configuring your own router.

18 months later and I'm still using the "temporary" solution of using the Orcon router with the Orbi just in AP mode. It's a bit irritating thoughas anytime I have any issues it makes troubleshooting that much harder.

Has anyone managed to get an Orbi mesh system working with Orcon fibre directly?

have you tried putting in some authentication details in (username/pword). I had a strange error with my fritzbox which wouldn't connect without something in those fields (this isn't how it should work but it's what got it to work). After a change of fritz firmware, everything went back to normal settings.

Another thing that causes no internet connectivity with the fritz + orcon (in my exp) is incorrect IPv6 settings.  If possible, try disabling IPv6 on the Orbi (ADVANCED > Advanced Setup > IPv6).  I'd actually recommend disabling IPv6 first before trying in PPoE mode.
