Just needing some clarification from Orcon landline users. I have emailed Orcon support but due to the long weekend, still waiting. Currently on fibre with Voda Broadband/Landline(VOIP).

From what I've read on their setup page the Router/Modem for fibre broadband + landline requires landline phones to be plugged into the router. Am I missing something?... because if true it seems bonkers, the idea that 3-4 phones distributed through out the house need to be plugged into the Orcon modem instead of using their respected phone-jacks.

That's completely normal for pretty much any VoIP solution - be it the ONT or RGW that the phones connect to. You'll have a similar setup already with the Vodafone VoIP solution.

No reason that the RGW/ONT can't be patched to feed 3 or 4 phone jacks though.

no you can connect the home phone wiring to the router, as long as its disconnected from the street.

you can then use any of your house hold jacks. with a fibre instillation you should have had integrated phone wiring done.

should be no difference to what you have with Vodafone as they also provide VOIP via the RGW
