We just moved house and whilst planning before the move it was decided to change to 2D for broadband and home phone as fibre was already installed at the new home.
As an existing 2D monthly pay customer and a Super Gold card holder the discounts offered paid for the home phone option plus the $200 credit for signing up for broadband sealed the deal.
I had amassed several thousand of minutes of rollover call time so after some research , and trolling the GeekZone forums I decided to buy a Panasonic DECT phone system with Bluetooth so any phone in the house could access the cell phone for incoming or making outgoing calls. A month before the move it was set up at the old house and worked perfectly.
As the move to the new house was only 300 metres away from the old, in the middle of a large residential area in Rangiora North Canterbury, we had very high expectation of a very workable system.
The move took place on the 30th January. Within a day or so we have a blistering (for us) 200 Mbps internet connection the home phone was transferred so we could retain the old number.....all good.
BUT..............the 2D cell phone signal strength at the new location is between -105 to -118dbm as measured on the phone so this puts paid to my wonderful plan. There are approximately 100 new houses being erected about 250 meters away so what level of service ca 2D offer those new residents?
The previous owner resident of this house was not named FARADAY.
BUT wait.......WiFi calling is available with 2D.........except my very powerful Samsung Note 3 android phone is not one which 2D can add their app to provide WiFi calling..
so what to do?
Can 2D turn up turn up the volume on my local tower?
Can I install a signal booster?
Do i have to buy another Phone to get Wifi calling?
any and all helpful suggestions much appreciated
Kevin
