Hi All

Just recently switched to 2Degrees Fibre Max from Spark Fibre Max.

I was told that a text would be sent to confirm my live connection date.

No text was received, however getting home after work noticed a browser message on my phone saying something along the lines of "plug in your 2degrees modem".

Modem plugged in as per the instructions: ONT into Lan 1.

Updated the SSID names for 2.4G and 5G and connected to the 5G.

Immediately did several speed tests via speedtest app. Over wifi to my mobile phone, this is an average of 92 Mb/s down and 350-400 up.

Now i know its always best to check connection speeds via Ethernet however on Spark on wifi, my average download was a consistent ~ 250 mb/s down and up.

Checking the pinned post about trouble shooting issues, it seems that my profile isn't quite correct. I also saw a mention of a user getting better connection speeds when connecting the ONT to Lan 2.

I'll call 2Degrees after work tonight to check the profile and will also try Lan2 for the ONT.

Lan2 on the ONT won't be live, so don't waste your time with that, and afaik doesn't support gbit fibre speeds anyway.

Test over ethernet and come back to us with your speedtest results, you can't compare wifi results between the huawei and fritzbox (assuming that's what you're using) because they'll be using different wifi chipsets etc

It takes a little while (a few hours) to complete automated provisioning. Several posts on here in the past with the same thing.

Like dfnt said, test over ethernet.

PS: Now that you are on Gigabit internet, you will find that its your equipment and not your connection that is the limiting factor.

I had a similar issue when I moved from VDSL to fibre, then requested an upgrade to the consumer max plan. Issue for myself ended up being the profile I was on, I managed max upload, but never exceeded 100Mbit down. Quick call to tech support sorted it for me. Hopefully yours will just be the small delay in initial provisioning, though :).

No call yet to tech support. Just going to give it a couple of days to see if the auto provisioning sorts it all out.

Tonight. Tests over ethernet averaging around 92 Mbs down and 500 Mbs via 2Degrees server in Auckland.

Previously on Spark Fibre Max averaging around 800 Mbs down and 400/500 Mbs up via Spark server in Auckland. I'm located in Hamilton.

Also Internet light on the fritz modem is off even though I can browse the net fine. The info light is red.

Will update again in the weekend.

I have a gbit connection on Lan2, but I asked for that set up when I bought the house.

The upload is great , seems to be better than Spark, just need to fix the connect speed down which seems to be maxed to 92 Mbs.

Was also wondering if the internet light is supposed to be off? I can browse fine no problems so not a major but the Info light is red. Once the provisioning is correct, I'm guessing this info light will be on/green?

I have a gbit connection on Lan2, but I asked for that set up when I bought the house.

Ok, not sure where I read it.. maybe it's if both are used at the same time

Update:.

Contacted by @2degreescare this morning and noted some adjustments made.

Using the windows speed test app, I get 900Mbs down and 500 Mbs down so pretty much max line speed

Using the browser brings strange results. On Chrome using both speedtest.net and nperf.com (saw on a pinned post to try this one too) the results are variable from around 300 to 400 down to 400 up. Never had browser results this bad on Spark so I'm curious as to whats causing the difference.

Any suggestions re improving the browser performance?

I've been on Max Fibre speed since it was first offered by Ultra Fast Fibre with Full Flavour then Spark and now 2Degrees.

dont bother trying to increase/diagnose browser performance

you know you are getting full speed from the app.

So now you are starting to see, the connection is no longer the bottle neck, but some of the software we use and have done for quite a while is not speed performance centric.
