Hi Duncan,

I have an Orcon home hub but found that it has a bad problem which I could get no help from Orcon to fix. (Tried helpdesk on numerous occasions)

The Problem was I am on Platinum + from the Glenfield exchange and was getting disconnected at least once a day
This caused me major problems as I run my own email server, webpage and an Amateur radio DxCluster from here and every time the modem disconnected I would lose my Port Mapping and the only way I could get it back was to disable the port mapping and then enable it again.(Remove ticks on port mapping page and then, after going ok, put them back again)
I tried another Home Hub and had the same problem.
Losing the port mapping caused big problems here, due to my setup, as you can imagine with no port forwarding until I found out and fixed it mostly hours later.
In the end I gave up on the Orcon home Hub and am now using a D-Link DSL-G604T.
This does not disconnect like the Orcon Home Hub and if occasionally it does it doesn’t loose its port mapping!!
The reason for writing this is to bring it to your attention and ask if there is an answer to this problem and can you fix it as I would like to use the Home Hub but cannot due to this major Problem......Disconnects and Loss of Port Mapping.
Tried it again about a week ago and still has same problem.

Thanks

ed.o

It seams that the Seimens home hub disconects every 23 hours.......don't ask me why but it does.  Give seimens a call and see what they have to say about it.

I did and they did not want to know about Orcons home hub.
It would seem that it was imported not through them and so they did not want to do anything about it.

It seems to actually crash rather than disconnect. It goes through the entire boot process when it does this. Just a minor inconvenience but I hope they patch it.

Lol sounds like the evil work of orcons but just to be shure you will need to awnswer a few questions :D

1.Did you get your orcon home hub from orcon?
2.Did you install any updated firmware from orcon?
If you awnswered yes to any of the above then there is a serious posibility that orcon is to blame.

It is posible that orcon might auto DC everyones routers ever 23hrs, or maybe just some peoples, or just yours! lol!
Maybe there trying to stop you using some of that data you paid for to help them out in there pipe bandwidth denial isues? Maybe theyre using there evil orcon super powers to login to your router and unport stuff? Maybe theyre evil and they dont like you cause you host stuff and use to much bandwidth. If its only you then its very likely that theyre targeting you lol. If its everyone then omg your all doomed. lols at orcon. I lols u lols we all lols at orcon lols.

No seriously lol at the person giving orders to the orcon company. They fail to understand. But using orcon hardware to access orcons network, to use orcons international internet connection is all so dodgey. Everything controlled by orcon. That allso means its not your fault if its slow or dodgey or anything. But yeah if orcons gona do that to you then why stay?

??????? Whats all that about.

Waiting now for orcon to update my firmware.

still on the origional version that disconnects every 22 and a half hrs.
Rang up Orcon and apparantly you have to wait in line  for them to update it as they only do them one at a time.

Well thats what their corporate support told me.
I find it hard to believe myself.
What I personally find hard to take is that they are prepared to leave me, for who knows how long, suffering the problem with loss of port mapping (as mentioned in first post)
And if I go back to another adsl modem to stop the problem I create another in that I will never get my home hub updated.

Come on Orcon I thought that you were better than that after being with you for the last 4 years I expected more.

But maybe I was wrong and it is time to find a isp with a more caring support team !!

Still on firmware version 2.3.49.7.0 and no indication of when, if ever, it is going to be updated.
No feedback from Orcon what so ever on the ticket I raised about getting my homehub firmware updated!

The firmware updating is disabled on the Gigaset console, meaning this can only be done remotely by the ISP
