Hiya - DNS (bender) is back operating correctly, I have the team looking into it now, I'll provide an update later on today on this.

Hi All,

We have identified an issue with the hardware which means this needs replacing ASAP. The good news is we have 10 new servers here to replace the existing in country DNS server clusters. We will commence the build today for the failing server and should have this online today to remediate.

Nick.

Nice, great work as always @NickMack

I probably should've updated the thread that it appeared to "resolve" itself about 30 minutes after I posted, but I was already in bed falling asleep -_-

Update 13/03/19

We are still working on the DNS server builds - We are commissioning a new DC in Christchurch which required some patching to be done.

Has this been fixed yet as I am finding from time to time huge delays in opening webpages including stuff and geekzone? This morning even my mail client timed out. It is fine now. This only happens from time to time.

Writing this in frustration as I wait for your call centre to take my call!!!

Hiya,

Sorry about the delay - As of 10 minutes ago the replacement for the failing DNS server is now online. The delay was born from driver issues by our hardware vendor and the decision to move to the latest version of Ubuntu which  required a bunch of updates to our hardening scripts for the server and the services running on it, as well as repacking of our apps. Apologies for the delay, this will be our new standard as we move forward with replacing all in country DNS servers.

Nick.

Completely unrelated but was talking to @michaelmurfy about a router I received to test. Check SamKnows below.

On the 12 March I changed our Fritz to use 1.1.1.1 to test something - small change, slower response. Then last night around 7pm I plugged in a new router I had just received (won't post the brand here yet but you can see on my Twitter). Look at that spike!

Back to the Fritz in under an hour as you can imagine...
