Yesterday I had a my republic door knocker come and knock on our door (well I was outside on our way out). He opened with the line that the internet in our area was bad and congested due to work on the network in our area.

As I was heading out, I didn't fully engage with the person and said thank you but we are already on fibre and we are very happy with our current provider.

The wife and I talked about it later on and agreed that rather spinning some BS about network congestion when a lot of the houses in our area are on fibre, why doesn't My Republic train these sales people differently rather than trying to spine BS.

We thought a much better approach would be to say  along the lines of "hi my name is.... and I am from my republic, I was wondering if you are happy with your current internet provider and if not this is our current offerings....." surely these reps would get much  better response.

When I got home, I saw the poor guy still walking the streets.

Love to hear from my republic on this one.

Edit: fixed typos

Had this sort of thing before - see this thread: https://www.geekzone.co.nz/forums.asp?forumid=165&topicid=204749

I've seen on my security cameras they fully ignore my house now. Neighbor got sucked in and joined and said he has issues with gaming on the gamer plan, Colleague also states she has massive issues with them but is locked to a 24mo contract - this is all reflected on her SamKnows probe also.

these sales people usually come up with their own pitches since they are commissioned based

They will say whats in the best interests of their own pockets.. its quite sad really

Hi guys, Sales have got back to me.

This is definitely not part of the training material and the coaching is being delivered to the rep today. Thanks for raising it.
