"The great news for Orcon broadband customers is that your experience is going to be that much better than everyone else's. Why? Because the content is being hosted in the Orcon datacentre. That means super-fast access for Orcon customers."

Assuming Orcon's datacentre is in NZ wouldn't it be nice if the data was zero rated to allow the best opportunity to view the olympics, I imagine the costs of local traffic are marginal and this would be a huge bonus for Orcon customers.

I can live and hope I suppose

They gotta pay for the servers somehow :-) Pretty cool if they did zero rate though. Personally I think we should zero rate all local traffic.

Yes I read this also, I hoped that we might get discounted traffic or something.

We would have loved to have done zero rated data, but unfortunately just did not have the resource to get the infrastructure set up here - we have been pretty busy with unbundling. This is definitely something that we are looking pretty closely at - we are really keen to encourage the use of local content, particularly that which is on our network.

Good to hear that you guys would see this as a value add. Would be interested to hear about any other (local) content that you would particularly like zero rated.

Interesting to note that Snap have announced 0-rated traffic for the TVNZ Olympics coverage over in the Broad Band forum.

We are designing a online backup system for our clients, which will be deployed either in a datacentre, or on ISP fibre.

Zero rated data to your cages or across your network would be a great value add.
