5 ghz WIFI SSID disappears

Hi team

I have recently changed to Fiber and came across to 2D and the process was great no dramas at all.

I'm on the 100/20 plan and have the Fritz Box 7490 which has been easy to setup and I have had no issues except for the following.

Every 3 or 4 days I will get home from work go to use my phone and realize I have no WIFI.

When looking into it my phone or any device cant see the 5ghz SSID anymore?

A reboot of the Fritz box solves the issue but that's a pain has anyone else come across this before and sorted it out?

Likely DFS... check the logs on the fritz

DFS or switching to frequencies your devices aren't capable of picking up - what "devices" do you have?

I have a OP5T but it also happens on a S10 as well?

Will look at the logs tonight when I get home and will have to do a google on what DFS is :)

DFS is the likely suspect - Change the channel to another, also ensure you have the SSID for 2.4 and 5g to be the same, if 5g does disappear for any reason, it will failover to 2.4g. (devices if capable and it's available will connect to 5g first).

In this context though, looks like it means dynamic frequency selection.

Dynamic Frequency Selection (DFS) is a WiFi function that enables WLANs to use 5 GHz frequencies that are generally reserved for radars.

All providers highly likely have it on.

Given the non dfs space is so limited, it would create more overlapping.

We already are starting to see that issue showing up with 160mhz coming common

DFS is only useful in high density deployments where you have overlapping coverage so things will always be able to see an AP on a non DFS channel. Many devices are not certified for DFS channels or are made for a different market where they have different ones that they can use.

Thanks all Had a look in the logs and yes it looked like it was being turned off because of sensing radar etc. So I have changed the channels and it seems fine.
