Hi all,

We've just switched back to Orcon (Fibre) after a short stint away with Vodafone (FibreX). I'm having trouble getting my USG to get a connection to Orcon (the supplied router works fine so I know the connection is there). I am aware Orcon uses IPOE (which I don't believe the USG supports?) and had assumed that by setting the WAN connection to DHCP and VLAN Tag to 10, that this would work as it was common in instructions for other brand routers that also don't support IPOE (for example the PBTech instructions for Asus Routers).

Anyone have any experience getting a USG to connect to Orcon Fibre and have any advice? I have the username and password from Orcon, but can't enter those without switching the connection type to PPPOE (which also doesn't appear to work).

I have a USG on Orcon and works well.

DHCP and VLAN 10 should do the trick.

Ipoe is just dhcp, from an end point perspective nothing more nothing less, so contrary to your statement most if not all routers support it.

Hi Both,

Thanks for the speedy replies, Learnt something new about IPOE.

Unfortunately just setting to DHCP and VLAN tag to 10 doesn’t appear to work for me. No connection etc.

Sorry if this is a silly question but the Orcon website says you need to be able to set the connection to IPOE so you can set the username and password to establish the connection (which is also what I see when I look at the settings on the netcomm router they sent me). Is this not actually needed?

Not sure what I’m doing wrong here.
