So long time Vodafone customer (mobile since Bell South days, ISP since... umm... Strip.Net I guess), But last month I changed mobile to 2D, right now I'm waiting for my fibre install to go through... (we have ADSL where we are at the moment).

Just want to say, so far (apart from a bit of up-sell from the Sales person in the 2D store that was a waste of money) the customer service has been amazing....! Very pleasing.

Yay, fibre.

I'm not getting full speed, but I'm sure I read somewhere this will sort itself out over the next few days.

Upload hasn't changed from DSL, I assume this will change as well....

Your fibre should be running at its full speed straight away - VDSL takes time to settle.

@Rincey tell us what speed you are getting and where are you testing to? Give us more information

Move to New Zealand's best fibre broadband service (affiliate link). Free setup code: R587125ERQ6VE. Note that to use Quic Broadband you must be comfortable with configuring your own router.

OK.. thanks for helping :)

I was just using speedtest.net. I let it choose the the 'best' server, which is NOW Napier

I get 12ms, 80Mbps down, 0.5Mbps up (in rough/rounded numbers)

I have (supposedly) an unlimited plan, so my down speed is an order of magnitude out, while my Up is 2 orders of magnitude.

Restart everything (router, ONT, PC), and try again - and then run the speedtest App from the Windows Store rather than their website. (Assuming youre on Windows 10)

yes, Win 10.

Results from the SpeedTest App:

20Mbps Down, 0.5Mbps Up to 2D Auckland

90Mbps Down, 0.4Mbps Up to 2D Chch.

(I'm in the Wairarapa)

@xpd, sorry only saw your reply when I posted my reply to @linux

Should things be restarted in a particular order?

I'll do it in the direction of my chair to the wall, down my PC, then the Fritx box, then the ONT, and then power up in the reverse order.

Everything restarted, and its still a orders of magnitude lower than expectations:

Down: 82Mbps; Up: 0.44Mbps (using the speedtest app to 2D Chch)

Unlimited refers to data not speed

Looks like you're on the 100/20 plan

If you're on Ultimate Unlimited then that's another story

Sorry, yeah, that's what I meant...

I double checked my email and it says

Plan: 2degrees Broadband Unlimited
(Ultimate Fibre)

In that email it also says:

"Once your account is set up, we'll be in touch by email and text to let you know when you can plug your modem in, get set up and start streaming. Don't switch from your existing provider until we've confirmed when your broadband will be up and running."

So is there something 2D still needs to do (ie, activate full speed) when Chorus tells them the physical install is complete?
