Hi I am new to Slingshot and just getting set up for Fibre

However I can't seem to find settings that I need for my Fritz!Box 7490 to handle the Slingshot voice services.

I had done reading on Geekzone before signing up with Slingshot and it seems that you can do it but can someone point me in the direction of settings that I need?

Thanks!

Only Slingshot can provide you with your SIP credentials and details (assuming they still provide these). Have you contacted them?

They told me they have never provided this (which differs from posts I have read here from users??)

Slingshot gave me my SIP details so I can use a separate VOIP device

You can also extract them from a router config backup although I think the password may be hashed

They seem totally adamant that they never give out the details? Am so confused.

If Slingshot supplied the 7490, it should download its configuration when it connects for the first time. If they didn't supply it they should still be able to push the config to it.

That's how it worked with my Slingshot supplied 7490.

I was in the same situation recently. A friend gave me a 2Degrees Fritzbox 7490 and I wanted to replace the Slingshot Netcomm router.

Slingshot could not help me as the router was 3rd party. However, they did give me the generic username to sign in.

Use firstcontact @ slingshot dot co dot nz for the account username and anything as the password.

Then follow the instructions at https://www.geekzone.co.nz/forums.asp?forumid=81&topicid=213882. In particular, follow mouwen's instructions with the screenshots and you should be good to go.

Hope it works for you and many thanks to mouwen for the screenshots.

I love the Fritz box when we used to be with 2Degrees! Particularly setting wifi access/parental control.
Have only had problems with slingshot
- Unhelpful staff who knows nothing about the modem
- keeps referring me to Netcom to help with parent control access
- different versions of FAQ support on Netcom for my modem box (there’s a newer one) below is my current one?!?
- current IP login interface hard to work out! (Below link)

Am needing help !! Not sure if I can ask for in on this thread ? Maybe I’d have to set up new topic?

Slingshot won't provide SIP settings (if a staff member did, they could get into trouble) and while it is possible to extract the credentials, it's also possible that they would just get changed again if it was picked up on. Best option is to either get a VoIP line from somewhere like 2Talk or bridge your Fritz!Box with the default router.

Or go direct to 2talk who Kiwivoip wholesale off?

I did a trial with Hero VOIP, a NZ company.  It worked well and they were very helpful to deal with.  I only didn't stay with them because it was easier just to use my SS credentials on the Linksys PAP I bought on Trademe

Ok this is a pain. I followed some guides above and this worked.

However now it suddenly stopped working. How are others getting on with this?

I today, managed to get my 7390 working on slingshot fibre. You can get the connection details out of your slingshot netcomm modem. The following link helped me. It is for a different revision modem but commands still work. If you use putty, just connect with the default ip (192.168.1.1) and as the link says, connect using the normal router login. then just type "dumpsysinfo" and copy the data out of putty screen. All setting you may need are there. I am ok with networking but zero experience with voip. I have managed to get it going. https://www.geekzone.co.nz/forums.asp?forumid=82&topicid=143067

Why won't they give out the details ?  Seems an odd practise to stop people using the service being paid for .. is there something secret squirell in the information ?

The guy said it was a privacy thing and I read somewhere that this is what someone else had been told. If you need help with the settings just let me know, but the answers are all there
