Looks like some Prepay pricing has increased but I could be wrong but they have introduced 14 day Prepay plans

My Pay monthly plan has increased from 3GB to 4GB and 400 minutes to unlimited

There are a whole bunch of new prepay plans (they're not combos anymore, they're plans!) which match the postpay ones - including the $85 unlimited plan. There are also several new plans that recur fortnightly instead of monthly.

iPad Pro 11" + iPhone 15 Pro Max + 2degrees 4tw!

Having the options show Monthly Plan is very confusing if 14 Day Plans is selected - sure it's a monthly plan... which you might accidentally pay twice per month for. Guessing they're trying to cash in on the Skinny market and their weekly options.

Silly question but what's the "Data Hotspotting for no extra charge" about as can't find any other reference to it on their site? I thought it was a case of enabling a hotspot on your own device allowing other devices to piggy back your mobile data via their local wifi?

Some providers (eg. not 2degrees) either forbid Hotspotting on their unlimited plans, or make you pay extra to use it.

The "Data Hotspotting for no extra charge" is 2degrees' way of saying you can do what you want with your data (including using it to Hotspot), the way it should be.

Ah, thanks for that. I had no idea other telcos forbid hot spotting let alone could enforce it. Can see why they might have done that in the early days when their networks weren't as well provisioned but seems totally ridiculous now. I know two people who Spark have effectively "encouraged" to move their fixed line services to their 4G network so Spark don't have to pay Chorus for the connection each month. Those customers then receive a modem which effectively is a mobile device hot spotting to everyone in the household via the same 4G mobile network.

@wongtop If you are on a old plan that is no longer offered then I would be very surprised if 2degrees will make any changes to plans that are no longer offered @SaltyNZ

@wongtop So you must be on the in market $30 plan not an old plan

Yes, a fixed-wirlesss connection uses the same network but because it’s fixed telcos can monitor a sites usage adjusting/restricting other connections in the area. When you have ‘unlimited’ mobile plan, because they’re mobile, a telco can’t predict what sites will face congestion as people are moving all over the place - add in tethering and it’s just additional load. Hence why they’re restricted at 40gb as people would drop their fixed-line connections and hotspot off their phones

Since joining 2D Pay Monthly my plans gone from 1gb to 1.5, to 3 and now to 4 with only a $5 increase (one plan change upwards). I use around 1gb a month... I'm going to be overwhelmed with data at this rate!

Great work 2D, always happy to see data tracking the right way. I'm not sure what I will do with Unlimited Minutes but nice to have them I guess.
